Duncan who is identified as the ‘brown-haired man’ is the local Blacksmith. His work matches the skill and talents of the gods. He takes stone from the earth, fiery brimstone from hell and smelts it into beautiful golden liquid. Through his craft he brings something new or alchemical. Some would even say it’s pure magic.
From the elements he combines heart, soul, passion and strength into the master-craft of his work. The stories of his fame all ring true; he works in a open-sided forge, working from dawn till dusk, wielding his hammer with strength and precision, repairing broken wheels for travelers, reshaping plows for fields, forging blades from steel adorned with jewels fit for a King. Silver, gold, copper, bronze, tin, and iron. No physical stone is too hard for him to master. Duncan lives and breathes by the blacksmith code. “Aut Inveniam Viam Aut Faciam” - I will either find a way or make one.
The Blacksmith symbolizes the challenges we face in life; at times we don't have the tools or the materials we need. Duncan goes above and beyond that; in which he creates the things he needs instead of relying on someone else to do it for him. He masters iron into working tools, armor or weapons. Creating talent into value. We too can be reminded of the Blacksmith and in turn identify our worth and forge our own Destiny.
Destiny is not a matter of Chance, it is a matter of Choice.
